Welcome to Fighting Cancer, Inc.'s webpage! We
are excited to launch this website and the Sunshine Box project.
Receiving a diagnosis of cancer can be a frightening
experience. So much is unknown. The imagination can run wild. It is our hope to make the experience
a little easier and less stressful. We visit new chemotherapy patients at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte,
North Carolina, on the first day of treatment and deliver a Sunshine Box to them. Our volunteers who deliver the
boxes have had experience with cancer, either as a survivor or caregiver. We are able to encourage and hopefully provide
some hope to the patients as we share our experiences with them and answer questions they have about what to
expect. We have seen so many smiles light up a face that was etched with worry when we arrived, tears of joy, words
of thanks. It has truly been as much of a blessing to those of us involved as volunteers as it is to the recipients.
