Amazing news!Three people (Catherin M., Suzanne S., and Pam G.M.) nominated me for a promotion that our
local radio station does, 107.9 The Link, called Link Leading Ladies. And ... I was chosen to be the Link Leading Lady
for April 16th, and will have the opportunity to talk on the radio about Fighting Cancer Inc and what we do! I'm so
excited about this opportunity to make people aware of what we're doing and hopefully get more people involved. WOOHOO!!
And at the end of the year, one of the LLLs (there will be a total of 30 for the year) will get a $5,000 check for their charity!
Wouldn't THAT be awesome!!
Our yard sale will be May 15th with a rain date of May
22nd. Please keep us in mind as you do your spring cleaning ... we'll take anything and everything you want to
find a new home for (nothing alive. LOL) I'll even pick it up if you're in the Charlotte area. And come
and buy stuff on the 15th.
We delivered two more boxes Monday the 22nd. We got a really sweet thank you note
from one of the recipients. It's posted in our "recipients' response" tab. My mother and Aunt Laura
delivered these two. Aunt Laura is a cancer fighter/surviver, herself!! I think that seeing survivors is a really
good thing for a first-day chemo patient!
That's all for now. Thanks for stopping by!

Sorry I haven't updated for a whileFor several weeks I've been working a bit of OT at my regular job, plus evenings/weekends on my part time transcription
job, plus Sunshine Box stuff ... so I've been super busy and need to catch up with lots of stuff (the p/t transcription work
will most likely drop way back after Easter). But you know what? Busy feels very good. I'm being careful
not to get over-stressed. I feel like I'm back to "normal" life finally!! But I hadn't realized it had
been almost a month since I've updated the blog. So sorry!
We delivered our 68th Sunshine Box this afternoon. I went over during lunch to deliver to D. and G.
Turns out D had to leave early because his numbers weren't good, but G was there with her friend D. and I had a very nice
visit with them. D, G's friend, said that G. is the type of woman who always does this kind of thing for others and
it's nice to see her getting something for a change. And, in what I guess is "true to form," G. asked me repeatedly
to take the bag back and give it to someone else. I told her nope, it's for HER and she is to enjoy it! She smiled,
but tried again later, asked me to take at least some of it and give it to someone else. I didn't, of course.
I am sure she'll enjoy having the gifts to open, even if she isn't used to being the "getter."
I had
a WONDERFUL surprise last night. I got home and there were five boxes, four of which were quite large, addressed to
Fighting Cancer, Inc. They were from the adult auditorium Bible class at Church of the Open Door in Westminster, Maryland.
They decided to adopt us and collected TONS of stuff. There were some really nice handmade blankets and a crocheted
afghan and lotions and candles and tea and keychains and journals and ... well, I could fill the page with everything!
One thing I hadn't thought of that someone included ... toothbrushes. One of the things my nurses told me when
I was diagnosed was to get a new soft-bristle brush because gums get tender, but I never thought to include that on the
list (will update it right now!) I'm so glad to have received these donations. The timing is perfect since we
had been running a bit low with all the deliveries lately. Oh, and there were a bunch of really pretty ribbons to use
in the wrapping, and some wrapping paper. I'll have to get a picture and post all of it.
Also, some of the
ladies from Bible Baptist Church in Matthews got together with my mother at her house and wrapped about 10 bags. They
brought wrapping paper and ribbons and even gifts to include in the baskets. Wow, what a great help this is!!
It takes me at least an hour to wrap each box, so having them do 10 ... saved me sooooooooo much time. And I know they
had fun doing it (my mother told me so!) It really is a "feel-good" cause, you know? Just seeing
the smiles on the faces of the folks who get the bags of gifts is enough to put a smile on our faces all day long!
While I was at the chemo lab today I got to meet I., a Sunshine Box recipient that I hadn't met yet. She met my mother,
who delivered her Sunshine Box to her a few months ago. She stopped me on my way out and asked if I was Sharon and I
sat down and had a nice little visit with her, too. She looked great and said she was feeling great, as well.
Thank all of you who are reading this, for your interest, prayers, support. There's no way I could do this by myself,
and you all mean a lot to me!! THANK YOU.
Sharon Enjoying life today!!
