8/10/11 - I (Sharon) delivered a Sunshine Box today and the lady next to the one I was delivering to told me ... "I got one, too, and I love it!"  I asked her what her favorite gift was and she said she had only opened two, but she loves her fleece blanket.  I said, "Oh, so you just got yours?"  She said, "No, I got it three months ago.  I leave it where I can see it and every time I do it makes me smile."  I told her that's great .. but start opening those gifts!  :-)

8/8/11 - Thank you so much for the gifts.  It has meant so much to me.  I bring my fleece blanket with me every time I come, and will continue to bring it until I finish.  I haven't opened everything yet, but look forward to opening each one that is left.  Thank you and everyone who works on this project with you.C.

07/07/11 -   I want to thank everyone who has participated in preparing Sunshine Gift Bags. I am still opening gifts!! I received the MOST beautiful knitted afghan in lovely colors of green and cream, some softy socks, a lil body scrub and a journal, which I am going to use to document an upcoming trip I am taking with my daughter. The journal will be a lovely gift for my girl. Thank you....you guys are wonderful!!

07/06/11 - This morning I opened a little blue body scrubber. Not only did I NEED one, it was the perfect color for my bathroom. Perfect!! Thank you for another thoughtful pick~me~up, or in this case, clean~me~up!!

06/30/11 - I wanted to thank you for the wonderful surprise that my dad received last July at Presbyterian Main. The cancer word was new to our small family and the bag was such an amazing gift to a scarey, unknown world.

Thank you so much for going out of your way to come and see me.Thank you so much for turning your cancer and your being a survivor into such a positive thing.   I am extremely looking forward each day to opening a gift.  It really does give me something to look forward to.  I can't wait until I am healthy again to pay it forward!!

I am so blessed to receiver the beautiful things that you gave me.  Even though I haven't opened them all because I am going to open one a day, I am so overwhelmed about it!  Not many people do nice things like you have done.  Thank you very much.

Hi!  We met last week in the chemo unit.  I have had so much fun opening gifts - a hat, a smell good, a wind chime.  Thanks for the gooooooooodie bag!

Thank you so much for your visit last Friday and the Sunshine Box.  It's hard going through this, but it is nice to know there is someone out there knowing what you are going through.  This is really something very nice you are doing.   My first treatment went ok.  I am so happy you got good results and hope to also have good results in a few months myself!  Thanks again.

We really enjoy the Sunshine gifts.  They truly uplifted my spirit and let me know that I am not alone.  It was a pleasure meeting you and your daughter, and the uplifting prayer, as well.  Chemo was a little tiresome, but as the days go by with God in my soul I am doing better some days than others.  My family and I are fighters - we are going to beat this!  Love to you and yours.

WOW!!  That's how I felt as I received my Sunshine Box yesterday.  It was like Christmas in July.  What a great surprise.  It is great to see how the Lord is using your cancer experience to reach out to others.  I am so glad you are in remission.  I pray God will continue to bless you.  From the bottom of my heart, thank you for the lovely box full of surprises.

My mother is receiving chemo at Presby.  She received a package from your father the other week and wanted me to write this letter of thank you.  She was shocked to have such a wonderful gift brought to her while she was receiving chemo.  As she read your letter, she felt very much loved by a person that does not even know her but can understand what she is going through.  I truly believe God sent you to help and keep hope alive.  May He keep you safe and free of cancer.

It was so lovely to have a visit from you and Kimberly on my first day of chemo.  Thank you both so much for the love and encouragement.  Thank you also for the fabulous and fun Sunshine Box!!  I am having such fun opening a gift a day, and it is all wonderful.

I just wanted to thank you so much for the Sunshine Box.  I was sitting with my mother during her chemo when it was delivered.  I was so overcome with the gesture that I don't remember your father's name.  My mother was extremely grateful for her gifts and the sentiment  and she is not computer savvy so she asked me to pass along her thanks.  tha blanket has already come in handy.  She smiles each time she openes one of the packages.  Thank you and your Organization for the wonderful work you are doing!

Dear Sharon, Please forgive me for waiting so long to send you my many thanks for the gifts I received from you.  What a great ministry to do such a wonderful thing.  Thanks for all the many nice things (too many to list).  I found out in May of this year that I have uterine cancer.  My surgery was a success but I will have five months of treatment.

I have been blessed with good health all of my 72 years.  I am very active in my church and I also sing with a choir. It is with regrets that I had to drop out since I started my chemo.  I am a Christian and was saved many years ago.
May God bless you many times over for your good work for cancer patients.
I have had the opportunity to witness others receiving your gifts and their smiles and joy are awesome.
God bless you!
In His Love
C.

Oh my, was I ever surprised when I opened my Sunshine Box.  What a wonderful ministry the Lord has given you!  I gotta be honest - I just couldn't wait to open all of those wonderful gifts.  It was like Christmas!!  Yes, I am a kid at heart.  I found your website and it is absolutely wonderful.  Yesterday I had my second treatment and all went well.  They say I will probably lose all of my hair starting this week, which as you probably know is more troublesome than the diagnosis of cancer, so I would appreciate a little extra prayer.  Everybody tells me that I have a great attitude - the reason is I think about all the sacrifices Jesus made for us (me) - and this is so very miniscule compared to what he did.  Plus this "brief" time of treament isn't much when you put it in perspective to the number of weeks/months/years that God has given us good health.  Thank you so very much to Sandi and you for my wonderful Sunshine Box.  What a blessing!

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and talk with me.  I really appreciated being able to ask you questions and your honesty in answering them.  It was encouraging to see someone who has gone through it and is OK now.  I think that's even better than the gifts ... but I love the gifts too.  Thank you again.

Thanks so much for the prayer and for the ministry/outreach you have undertaken.  I am totally amazed at my bag of Sunshine.  You made my day!!  My heart is swelling with the love that has been shown toward me.  I cannot thank you enough for being there to encourage me through this battle with cancer.
My first chemo caused major burning in my arm.  Rough stuff.   I have a little less pain now and have been able to sleep.
Again, thanks for the Sunshine Package.
God bless you.

"You make me feel like I matter."

11/04/09
I want to graciously thank you for the Sunshine Box and the hand made prayer blanket.  It was absolutely gorgeous and I know many hours went into praying and crocheting.  I used the blanket during chemo and it was as if God himself was wrapping His arms around me.  I have finally made it through opening all my wonderful “sunshine surprises”.  I must say, beginning each day opening a gift is a great way to start the day.

It was even more wonderful seeing you and Ileana.  For me, I was so nervous and anxious of the unknown, but both of you brought me peace.  They say something good comes out of every bad situation if we choose to make the best of it.  Thank You for making the best of your situation and giving back to others.  You are truly an inspiration in your walk with the Lord and with your fight against Cancer.

This evening I (Sharon) got a call from one of our recipients.  She told me how much it meant to her when she got her Sunshine Box.  There was a mix-up in scheduling, and the day I showed up to give it to her, she didn't have chemo; and the day she did show up, I wasn't there.  But one of the nurses gave her the Sunshine Box (which is actually a large gift bag) and she said it made her day.  She still has some gifts to open, and is saving them for difficult days.  She said she's telling everybody what a great thing it was, spreading the word.  Made my day Cool

Thanks so much for my Sunshine Box.  What a great idea!  I used the blanket and socks that first day, they were life savers.  I'm taking them to every treatment.
It was really nice to talk with someone who has been through chemotherapy, get some tips about it, and to hear/see how great the outcome has been for you. Your visit was very encouraging for me.  Thanks for "paying it forward".

Hi Sharon,

My name is R. Today your mom and her friend delivered a Sunshine Box to my wife S.  at Presby. Words cannot express our most heartfelt gratitude. Instantly our anxiety was reduced  and it  reminded us  that we were not alone in this fight. The Sunshine Box raised S.'s spirit and for that I cannot thank you enough.  I hope one day I can thank you in person.

We  enjoyed talking to your mom and friend about your story. Your story is so full of hope.. Congratulations on being "NED" !!!  After your mom told us your story I looked at S. and saw that she was ready to tackle this monster. Just the inspiration she needed. Better than any prescription pill.

S. was so excited to open her  1st gift. It was so funny because we were talking about how cold it was in the room before your mom arrived and the first gift was a blanket. Perfect timing...LOL .  She is already talking about opening the next gift at her next chemo appt.

Its so great to know that there are still people in this world that care. We were talking tonight about how we can " pass it forward" when our treatments end in April. So look forward to hearing from us in April on how we can help your organization.

God bless you and your organization. You are making a difference.
Sincerely,
R.

*Can you please pass this to your mom and her friend. I do not their emails. Thanks.

You so helped my good girlfriend on her first day of Chemo 9/28. You made her experience a good one.

Aug. 24 - One of my dearest friends' mother was the recipient today of your very first Sunshine box. I cannot tell you how much it meant to her and her family. You are very courageous to do this for other cancer patients and I hope it brings you peace to know what a difference you are making.
